The Glacier d'Argentière as recalled by the artist
Sculptural Watercolour® 2018 in a box frame 70 x 60 x 5 cm
The above painting is how the artist recalls this glacier from a viewpoint near Argentière in the 1970s
When the artist viewed the glacier in 2012, she was shocked to see that the lower part of the glacier had gone, as may be seen in the above photo.
Our viewpoint was just north of Argentière village. Today, it has almost completely disappeared from view.
Above: The Glacier des Rognons used to descend into the Glacier d'Argentière.
This photo was taken during a recce of the Grand Montets in 2012.
Today (2020) this glacier has almost gone.
